COVID-19

The wellbeing of those in our care home is our top priority and we make sure that it remains as safe as possible from any risks of infections or viruses, including COVID-19. To help us stay safe, we continue to follow the guidance and legislation as issued by the Government and key sector bodies and we are committed to keeping our residents, their families, and our staff well-informed at all times.

Due to the effects of COVID, Lark View Care Home has developed new policies and implemented brand-new procedures for everyone in our home to follow to help provide reassurance for all residents and visitors to our home.

A Sense of Normalcy

To ensure that our home remains safe, we make sure that we always have a sufficient supply of PPE and that our team follows the infection prevention and control measures that we have created and have put in place.

Like everyone, we understand how important it is to keep safe when it comes to COVID-19. We continue to keep up to date and in compliance with official advice and guidance provided by the Government, the Department of Health, and the local NHS Trust.

Additionally, we recommend that our residents, staff members and their guests remain up to date with any available vaccination and boosters. If cases do occur within our home, we are able to deal with them and take appropriate action.

Bringing Loved Ones Together

Lark View Care Home knows how important it is to have human connections, especially with their loved ones. Our staff members support their residents in their everyday lives and give them the opportunity to leave their homes for day trips and overnight stays away. We are able to allow this by doing a risk assessment on each individual which includes the use of respiratory screening questions on their return.

Currently, there are no restrictions on temporary leave so to reduce any risk of infections, we suggest all residents and team members have up-to-date vaccinations.

If there is an outbreak of illness at Lark View, we have multiple devices for our home to use so they can continue to stay connected with their loved ones via video chat. We know staying in touch with their loved ones can benefit their mental well-being, so will always encourage them to connect with others.

COVID-19 FAQs

We understand the importance of COVID-19 and keeping our residents, their families, and our staff safe. At Lark View Care Home, we are always happy to assist and answer any questions or concerns you may have. Here are some of our FAQs regarding COVID-19.

Whilst being vaccinated is no longer mandatory we strongly recommend that all residents, their visitors, and team members at Lark View Care Home are fully COVID-19 vaccinated, including future boosters, unless medically exempt. To reduce the risk of infection to others we will continue to encourage our team members to have all their vaccinations.

When transferring from the community or another care home a person does not need to isolate if the circumstances at the care home / interim care facility from which the person has transferred are known.

If the resident is symptomatic or has been in close contact with someone who has COVID-19, then they should isolate and perform two LFT tests on day (0), and again on day (2). Isolation can end following two negative tests.

If the resident tests positive in the home, they must be isolated for 5 days. The resident can then return to their normal activities if they feel well and do not have a high temperature (without the use of medication paracetamol).

Residents who test positive should avoid contact with other people who are eligible for COVID-19 treatments for 10 days after a positive test. Residents unable to take the test should isolate for 5 days.

During an outbreak, there may be risk assessments carried out to include but are not limited to the control of visiting arrangements, admissions to the home, and the use of communal areas for a period of time.

We work closely with local and national agencies in accordance with local agreements and guidance. For more information please contact our Home Manager directly.
